Kide Science from Accelerate Learning was named the winner in the STEM/STEAM Instructional Solution category of the 2023 Supes’ Choice Awards, the only education industry awards judged exclusively by school district superintendents. 

In the annual awards program, organized by the Institute for Education Innovation (IEI), each winning product is evaluated based on a commitment to student outcomes, innovation and ingenuity, client support, interactivity, and engagement. The STEM/STEAM Instructional Solution category recognizes solutions that provide students with experiential learning and the opportunity to collaborate, persist in problem-solving, take thoughtful risks, and work through the creative process. 

“In the past, STEM education was often ignored in the early years, but superintendents today recognize the tremendous impact it can have on students’ long-term success,” said Sari Hurme-Mehtälä, co-founder and managing director of Kide Science at Accelerate Learning. “Beginning STEM education early not only expands students’ interest in these areas, but it helps them develop lifelong skills that can benefit them in school and in life. We thank all of the superintendents who participated in the Supes’ Choice Awards for this honor and for their efforts to help students and teachers excel in STEM.” 

Kide Science is a library of play- and story-based lessons and professional development materials for early childhood education teachers. It is designed to complement any early years curriculum and works with any ability level. 

Kide Science lessons promote STEM topics and the development of social-emotional, literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. For students, each lesson features an immersive, imaginative story and illustrations that present STEM problems in a concrete, fun way. Kide Science also supports teachers with video instructions, printouts, assessment tools, scientific explanations for all the phenomena, and tips to adjust each lesson based on a child’s age and ability.
