Kide Science and Raising A Reader Partner to Bring Story-Based STEM Learning to Over 15,000 Families

Kide Science is proud to announce a new partnership with Raising A Reader (RAR), a national nonprofit dedicated to strengthening early literacy and learning through family book-sharing routines. This exciting collaboration brings story-based, hands-on STEM learning into the homes of more than 15,000 families participating in RAR’s Super Summer Learning Adventures every year.

This partnership unites two powerful forces in early education: Kide Science’s inquiry- and play-based STEM pedagogy and RAR’s award-winning family literacy model. Together, they are building a unique bridge between language development, imaginative exploration, and science learning.

“Kide Science has been making the pivot to include so much more than science,” said Jenni Vartiainen, Co-founder and Head of Research at Kide Science. “Our goal is to become the leading early childhood education program—and this is a major leap forward. Raising A Reader and Kide Science both believe that children can learn anything through investigation, imagination, and storytelling. This is truly a match made in heaven.”

Language is central to Kide Science’s approach. Stories do more than capture attention—they help children build vocabulary, ask questions, and communicate discoveries. Kide Science lessons use storytelling as an entry point into scientific inquiry, allowing children to develop language skills at every step—from sparking wonder to describing what they’ve explored.

“Our partnership with Kide Science adds value to the children and families we serve,” said Michelle Sioson Hyman, Senior Vice President, Program and Partnerships at Raising A Reader. “We’re excited to provide tools that help families use storytelling to engage their children in STEM in fun, meaningful ways.”

To support this collaboration, Kide Science has created a bundle of 10 free, story-based STEM lessons that align with RAR’s Summer Learning Adventures Family Activities. These lessons are designed to encourage families to roll up their sleeves and explore science together—using everyday materials and imaginative stories.
